Spring is a lovely time to visit St. Petersburg. After the long and cold Russian winter, the air is fresher and the first rays of the sun make the days brighter and warmer. Spring is the favourite time for many people in St. Petersburg.

Late March is usually the start of spring, but beware it can still be quite cold with the chance of heavy snowfall, so you need to prepare for this.  At this time of the year it is essential bring along a winter jacket, waterproof footwear, hat and gloves.

The weather naturally warms up towards the end of spring, which is mid to late May. At this time of year a spring jacket and footwear will be comfortable, but it would always be wise to pack an extra sweater for any dip in temperature. Spring brings with it some rainy days, so be sure to pack a raincoat or umbrella, so that you can enjoy your exploration of the city’s magnificent sights.
