Autumn can be a great time to see St. Petersburg, with its amazing colours splashed through the many suburban parks. Early to mid autumn, the beginning of September brings freshness to the air, making it an ideal time to enjoy the sights of the glorious city. What makes it an even better time to visit is the shorter cues for the sights. Late November brings with it the end of autumn and much colder weather.

If you intend to visit St. Petersburg at this time of the year, you will need to pack a variety of clothing. Early autumn brings warm and sunny days for most parts, and even and Indian summer, so you will need to pack short sleeve shirt and cotton trousers, just like summer. As rain is never always far away in this climate, do not forget to pack a raincoat or umbrella. As the season progresses, the fresh north-western wind blows and the temperature drops, so plan for this by packing a warm jacket/coat and a scarf. Warmer autumnal footwear will make your strolls along the Neva River and through the picturesque suburban parks an enjoyable one.
