Cathedrals in St. Petersburg

Church of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ - Built as a memorial on the spot of Emperor Alexander II's assassination on the 1st March 1881, its structure contains more ornate mosaics than any other church in the world.

The Cathedral of Peter and Paul - As the historic center of St. Petersburg, its golden spire rises majestically above the landscape. The stunning Baroque interior is the burial site of the pre-Revolutionary Russian Tsars.

Smolny Cathedral - Said to be one of the most beautiful churches in St, Petersburg, its amazing cupolas rise above the banks of the Neva River.


St. Isaac's Cathedral - The shining golden dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral dominates the skyline of St. Petersburg at 102 meters. The colonnade provides some spectacular panoramic views of the city.

Trinity Cathedral - Designed and constructed by renowned Russian architect Vasily Stasov, the 80 meter high blue domes of the Trinity Cathedral dominate the surrounding area of St. Petersburg.

Alexander Nevsky Monastery - The Alexander Nevsky Monastery is a historic and beautiful complex of churches. Many great Russian cultural figures including Tchaikovsky and Dostoevsky are buried within the prestigious cemeteries.

St. Sampson Cathedral - Built as a memorial to the Russian victory at the Poltava Battle, the five golden cupolas rise above the garden of Sampsonievsky.

St. Nicholas' Naval Cathedral - Shining out against the drab residential and commercial buildings in the picturesque northern area of the city are the golden Baroque domes of St. Nicholas' Naval Cathedral.

Transfiguration Cathedral - Close to Liteyny Prospect, the historic Savior of the Transfiguration Cathedral with it beautiful square, is one of the most visited cathedrals in St. Petersburg.
